Burgundy is the colour that looks like a decision. A deep wine red that people notice and remember, while still reading as sophisticated rather than costume.
It's also the hardest colour to live with on your own hair. Red molecules are the largest in hair dye and the first to wash out, so wine tones fade noticeably within weeks. Getting there on dark hair means pre-lightening first, and keeping it means a colour refresh every four to six weeks, indefinitely. On a wig, none of that applies.
13x6: six inches of parting depth
This is what separates it from a standard front. Most lace fronts stop at four inches back — enough for a shallow part and not much else. Six inches gives you a deep middle part that stays convincing all the way back, a proper side sweep, or hair pushed off the face, all of it landing on lace.
On a bold colour that depth earns its keep. Bright hair draws the eye straight to the parting, and a shallow closure shows its edge the moment you move the part or turn your head. Six inches means you can put the parting wherever it flatters you rather than wherever the lace allows.
HD lace, bleached knots, pre-plucked hairline
- HD Swiss lace is finer and more transparent than standard lace, so once laid and trimmed it sits against the skin rather than hovering above it.
- Bleached knots mean the points where each strand is tied into the lace have been lightened, so they don't show as dark dots against the scalp. It's the detail that separates a convincing parting from an obvious one.
- A pre-plucked hairline with baby hair arrives thinned at the temples the way hair actually grows, so there's no tweezer work before the first wear.
Glueless, straight, 150% density
The adhesive-free design means daily on and off without glue, remover or residue. That suits a bold colour particularly well — burgundy isn't a shade everyone wants five days a week, and a glueless cap makes it something you wear when you feel like it.
Straight is the finish that shows a colour most honestly, with no wave pattern breaking up the depth. At 150% the density is natural rather than dramatic: light on the cap, comfortable all day, and the right choice when the colour is already doing the work.
Find your length
Five lengths from 14 to 28 inches. 14" and 16" sit at the collarbone and shoulder — burgundy at bob length is sharp and considerably more wearable day to day. 20" runs through the mid-back. 26" and 28" are full statement length. Straight hair loses almost nothing to shrinkage, so what's stated is close to what you'll see.

- This one — 13x6, 14 to 28 inches. Deeper parting space and a wider choice of lengths, including short. Choose it if you move your parting, wear hair off the face, or want burgundy at bob length.
- 13x4, 20 to 30 inches. Ear-to-ear coverage with a standard four-inch parting area, and the longer option at 30 inches. Choose it for maximum length.

Caring for red hair
Red fades faster than any other colour, and heat and water strip it. Wash sparingly, in cool water, with a sulphate-free colour-safe shampoo — sulphates lift colour faster than anything else in a bathroom. Condition through the mid-lengths and ends, air dry on a stand, and detangle from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb. Heat protectant every time, moderate temperatures. Handle the HD lace gently at the hairline; it's finer than standard lace and tears more easily.

Length and shrinkage guide
All our lengths are measured stretched. Textured hair sits shorter than its stated measurement once it is dry:
- Straight — almost no shrinkage. What you order is what you see.
- Body wave — an inch or two shorter.
- Deep wave and water wave — roughly a fifth to a quarter shorter.
- Curly and kinky curly — up to half. A 20 inch curly piece can sit at 10 inches once dry.
If you are between two lengths, take the longer one. Length disappointment is the commonest reason wigs get sent back, and sizing up costs nothing.
Wigs also arrive compressed from packaging and look thinner and shorter than expected. Shake it out and let it hang before judging it.
Choosing your cap
The cap decides how convincing the wig looks and how much skill it takes to put on. Neither end of this list is better — they suit different people.
- 4x4 closure — the simplest to install and the hardest to get wrong. One parting position. The sensible first wig.
- 4x6, 4x7 and 5x5 closure — a wider lace area, so you can move your parting without exposing the cap.
- 13x4 frontal — ear to ear coverage with real parting space. Middle part, deep side sweep, or moved between wears.
- 13x5 and 13x6 frontal — five or six inches of depth, so a deep middle part stays convincing all the way back.
- 360 frontal — lace around the whole perimeter. The only option if you want high ponytails and updos.
- V-part and half wigs — no lace at all. Your own hair is left out to blend, so the parting is genuinely your scalp.
Frontals give the most freedom and take the most practice. Closures are quicker, more forgiving, and often wearable glueless with straps and combs.
Care
A human hair wig has no scalp feeding it oil, so the ends dry out faster than your own hair would. Looking after it is the difference between a wig that lasts a season and one that lasts years.
- Detangle from the ends upward, never from the roots down. On textured hair, do it wet with conditioner in — dry brushing pulls the wave or curl pattern out permanently.
- Wash sparingly with a sulphate-free shampoo, in sections rather than piling it up.
- Condition through the mid-lengths and ends rather than the roots, and use a weekly mask.
- Air dry on a stand. Allow plenty of time at higher densities — a dense wig put away damp is how wigs develop a smell.
- Heat protectant every time, at moderate temperatures. Repeated high heat wears a wig out faster than anything else.
- Refresh between wears with water and a little conditioner in a spray bottle rather than rewashing.
- Handle lace gently at the hairline, and store on a stand so the shape holds.
On coloured hair: reds and blondes fade fastest. Wash in cool water, and use a purple toning shampoo every few washes on blonde and highlighted pieces.
