Why brown, and why waves
Brown suits more complexions than black, which is stark against pale and mid tones and can pull colour out of the face. It also photographs far better: black loses its detail and reads as a flat silhouette, while brown shows depth and shadow as it moves.
Body wave is what shows that depth off. Light and shade travel through the S-pattern as the hair moves, so the colour reads as dimensional rather than as a single block. It's also the most forgiving texture there is — good on day three, survives being slept on, and looks styled when you've done nothing to it.
4x4 lace closure
The simplest lace wig to install and the hardest to get wrong. Four inches of lace gives a convincing parting without the ear-to-ear lace of a frontal, so there's far less to lay, far less to trim, and far less that can go visibly wrong at the temples.
The trade-off is that you pick a parting position and stay there, and pushing hair back off the face will show the cap edge. At 22 and 24 inches, where hair falls forward and covers the top of the head anyway, that's rarely something you'll notice.
Two lengths
22 inches runs through the mid-back. 24 inches heads toward the waist. Both are properly long — a real change from most people's own hair, without tipping into the statement lengths that need tying back at night and catching in seatbelts.
Body wave loses an inch or two of visible length to the wave pattern, so if you're between the two, take the 24. Wigs also arrive compressed from packaging and look thinner and shorter than expected — shake it out and let it hang before judging it.
Why it's worth buying

Care
Never brush the wave out dry — detangle wet, with conditioner in, using fingers or a wide-tooth comb from the ends upward. Wash with a sulphate-free shampoo in sections rather than piling it up, condition through the mid-lengths and ends rather than the roots, and air dry on a stand.
A weekly deep-conditioning mask makes a real difference at this length, since a wig has no scalp feeding it oil and the ends are the first thing to go dry. Between wears, a spray of water and a little conditioner revives the wave without a full wash. Use a heat protectant, keep temperatures moderate, and handle the lace gently at the parting.
Warm brown with real movement, at a length you'd otherwise wait years for.
Length and shrinkage guide
All our lengths are measured stretched. Textured hair sits shorter than its stated measurement once it is dry:
- Straight — almost no shrinkage. What you order is what you see.
- Body wave — an inch or two shorter.
- Deep wave and water wave — roughly a fifth to a quarter shorter.
- Curly and kinky curly — up to half. A 20 inch curly piece can sit at 10 inches once dry.
If you are between two lengths, take the longer one. Length disappointment is the commonest reason wigs get sent back, and sizing up costs nothing.

Choosing your cap
The cap decides how convincing the wig looks and how much skill it takes to put on. Neither end of this list is better — they suit different people.
- 4x4 closure — the simplest to install and the hardest to get wrong. One parting position. The sensible first wig.
- 4x6, 4x7 and 5x5 closure — a wider lace area, so you can move your parting without exposing the cap.
- 13x4 frontal — ear to ear coverage with real parting space. Middle part, deep side sweep, or moved between wears.
- 13x5 and 13x6 frontal — five or six inches of depth, so a deep middle part stays convincing all the way back.
- 360 frontal — lace around the whole perimeter. The only option if you want high ponytails and updos.
- V-part and half wigs — no lace at all. Your own hair is left out to blend, so the parting is genuinely your scalp.
Frontals give the most freedom and take the most practice. Closures are quicker, more forgiving, and often wearable glueless with straps and combs.
Care
A human hair wig has no scalp feeding it oil, so the ends dry out faster than your own hair would. Looking after it is the difference between a wig that lasts a season and one that lasts years.
- Detangle from the ends upward, never from the roots down. On textured hair, do it wet with conditioner in — dry brushing pulls the wave or curl pattern out permanently.
- Wash sparingly with a sulphate-free shampoo, in sections rather than piling it up.
- Condition through the mid-lengths and ends rather than the roots, and use a weekly mask.
- Air dry on a stand. Allow plenty of time at higher densities — a dense wig put away damp is how wigs develop a smell.
- Heat protectant every time, at moderate temperatures. Repeated high heat wears a wig out faster than anything else.
- Refresh between wears with water and a little conditioner in a spray bottle rather than rewashing.
- Handle lace gently at the hairline, and store on a stand so the shape holds.
On coloured hair: reds and blondes fade fastest. Wash in cool water, and use a purple toning shampoo every few washes on blonde and highlighted pieces.
