Colour
Gemstone

An octagon-shaped gemstone, your choice of ruby or emerald, held in a wide, polished border of 9ct yellow gold. The chunky frame gives the stone a bold, architectural outline, so this reads as a statement pendant rather than a dainty one. It suits someone who likes a single strong piece of colour, worn with an open neckline in the evening or over a plain knit by day.

Why it's a good buy

  • Solid 9ct yellow gold. The pendant is made in 9ct gold, not gold plate over a base metal, so there is no plating to wear through.
  • A named precious stone. Choose ruby or emerald, two of the traditional precious gemstones, each with a strong colour that stands out against yellow gold.
  • A protective frame. The wide gold border surrounds the edges of the stone, which helps shield them from everyday knocks.
  • A natural birthstone gift. Ruby is the birthstone for July and emerald for May.
  • An established UK brand. Elements Gold is a long-standing British fine jewellery brand specialising in 9ct gold.

Good to know

  • The supplier names the stones as ruby and emerald, but does not say whether they are natural or lab-created, and gives no stone size or carat weight.
  • Rubies and emeralds are very commonly treated in the trade: rubies are often heat-treated, and emeralds are routinely filled with oil or resin to improve clarity. The supplier does not state treatment, so please assume the stones may be treated. Keep them away from heat, ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals.
  • Emerald is more brittle than ruby and can chip if knocked sharply.
  • 9ct gold is 37.5% gold. It is harder-wearing than 18ct, but a paler yellow.
  • The supplier does not say whether a chain is included. The photos show it worn on a chain; if you need one supplied, please contact us before ordering.
  • The ruby and emerald versions are priced differently.
  • The supplier mentions matching stud earrings; these are not currently stocked by Tucan Lux.

Stones, pearls and metals

Every listing states exactly what the piece is made of, so you know what you are wearing:

  • Gemstones — the stone, its size or carat weight where relevant, and any treatment. Many gemstones are routinely enhanced by heat or other processes; where a stone has been treated, the listing says so.
  • Pearls — whether natural, cultured or imitation, and whether freshwater or saltwater. Pearls are natural products, so size, shape and lustre vary slightly from piece to piece.
  • Metals — the metal and its fineness, and whether it is solid or plated. Plated finishes wear with time; solid precious metals do not.

Colours can look slightly different on different screens and in different light. If you need an exact detail before ordering, contact us.

Sizing
  • Necklaces — 40 to 45cm sits at the base of the neck, 50cm at the collarbone, 60cm and longer below it.
  • Bracelets — measure your wrist snugly and add 1.5 to 2cm for a comfortable fit.
  • Rings — measure a ring you already wear on the same finger, or have your finger sized by a jeweller. Fingers are larger when warm and later in the day.
  • Earrings — each listing gives the drop length and fitting type.
Care
  • Last on, first off. Put jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and moisturiser, and take it off before swimming, bathing or exercise.
  • Pearls are soft and porous. Wipe them with a soft, dry cloth after wearing, never use jewellery cleaner or ultrasonic cleaners on them, and store them flat rather than hanging.
  • Gemstones vary in hardness. Store pieces separately so harder stones do not scratch softer ones or pearls.
  • Plated metals last longer kept dry and away from chemicals.
  • Store each piece in its pouch or box, away from direct sunlight.
Returns

Unworn jewellery in its original packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery. For hygiene reasons, pierced earrings cannot be returned once the seal or backing has been removed. If an item arrives faulty, damaged or incorrect, contact us within 30 days and we will replace it or refund you in full. Full details are in our refund policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What gemstone options are available for the Elements Gold pendant?
The Elements Gold pendant is available with your choice of an octagon-shaped ruby or emerald. Both are named precious gemstones with strong colour set against 9ct yellow gold; ruby is the July birthstone and emerald is the May birthstone.
Is the Elements Gold pendant made from solid gold?
Yes. The pendant is made from 9ct yellow gold rather than gold plate over base metal, so there is no plating to wear through. It features a wide, polished gold border that creates a bold architectural outline around the stone.
How should I care for the ruby or emerald pendant?
Keep the pendant away from heat, ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals, as the stones may be treated. Emerald is more brittle than ruby and can chip if knocked sharply. The supplier does not confirm whether the stones are natural or lab-created, or provide their size or carat weight.
