A closure wig is the sensible middle ground. Frontals give you the most parting freedom but need the most skill to install; a standard 4x4 closure is easy but locks you into more or less one parting. The 4x6 sits between them — two extra inches of lace across the top, which is enough to move your parting genuinely freely without taking on a full ear-to-ear frontal.
This one is built at 200% density, in natural black body wave, with a pre-plucked hairline on transparent Swiss lace.
Why 4x6 free part
Six inches across gives you room to part in the middle, off to either side, or somewhere different tomorrow — all within lace, so the parting looks like scalp wherever you put it. On a 4x4 you're effectively committing to one spot, and moving it exposes the cap.
The trade-off against a 13x4 or 13x6 frontal is coverage at the temples: a closure sits on the top of the head rather than reaching your hairline ear to ear, so it works best worn down or half-up rather than fully swept back. In exchange it's considerably quicker to install and far more forgiving to get right.
200% density
Most wigs are built to 150% or 180%. At 200% this is noticeably fuller — thick through the mid-lengths and, more importantly, still thick at the ends, which is where lower-density wigs give themselves away. It photographs well and it holds a wave without dropping flat by the afternoon.
Fit and length
Average cap, 21.5" to 22.5", which fits most people, with adjustable straps and combs to tighten it. Lengths from 16 to 24 inches — 16" to 18" sits between collarbone and shoulder, 20" to 22" runs through the mid-back, 24" heads toward the waist.
Worth knowing: wigs arrive compressed from packaging and look thinner and shorter than expected out of the box. Shake it out and let it hang before judging — it opens up considerably.

Care
Wash with a sulphate-free shampoo, working in sections rather than piling it up — at 200% it holds a lot of water and product. Condition through the mid-lengths and ends rather than the roots, and dry on a stand, allowing plenty of time; putting a dense wig away damp is how wigs develop a smell. Detangle from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb, and never brush the wave out dry. Use a heat protectant and keep temperatures moderate. Handle the lace gently at the parting — it's fine and tears more easily than the cap.

Length and shrinkage guide
All our lengths are measured stretched. Textured hair sits shorter than its stated measurement once it is dry:
- Straight — almost no shrinkage. What you order is what you see.
- Body wave — an inch or two shorter.
- Deep wave and water wave — roughly a fifth to a quarter shorter.
- Curly and kinky curly — up to half. A 20 inch curly piece can sit at 10 inches once dry.
If you are between two lengths, take the longer one. Length disappointment is the commonest reason wigs get sent back, and sizing up costs nothing.

Choosing your cap
The cap decides how convincing the wig looks and how much skill it takes to put on. Neither end of this list is better — they suit different people.
- 4x4 closure — the simplest to install and the hardest to get wrong. One parting position. The sensible first wig.
- 4x6, 4x7 and 5x5 closure — a wider lace area, so you can move your parting without exposing the cap.
- 13x4 frontal — ear to ear coverage with real parting space. Middle part, deep side sweep, or moved between wears.
- 13x5 and 13x6 frontal — five or six inches of depth, so a deep middle part stays convincing all the way back.
- 360 frontal — lace around the whole perimeter. The only option if you want high ponytails and updos.
- V-part and half wigs — no lace at all. Your own hair is left out to blend, so the parting is genuinely your scalp.
Frontals give the most freedom and take the most practice. Closures are quicker, more forgiving, and often wearable glueless with straps and combs.
Care
A human hair wig has no scalp feeding it oil, so the ends dry out faster than your own hair would. Looking after it is the difference between a wig that lasts a season and one that lasts years.
- Detangle from the ends upward, never from the roots down. On textured hair, do it wet with conditioner in — dry brushing pulls the wave or curl pattern out permanently.
- Wash sparingly with a sulphate-free shampoo, in sections rather than piling it up.
- Condition through the mid-lengths and ends rather than the roots, and use a weekly mask.
- Air dry on a stand. Allow plenty of time at higher densities — a dense wig put away damp is how wigs develop a smell.
- Heat protectant every time, at moderate temperatures. Repeated high heat wears a wig out faster than anything else.
- Refresh between wears with water and a little conditioner in a spray bottle rather than rewashing.
- Handle lace gently at the hairline, and store on a stand so the shape holds.
On coloured hair: reds and blondes fade fastest. Wash in cool water, and use a purple toning shampoo every few washes on blonde and highlighted pieces.
